This meditation steers you from focusing on what is not so pleasant in your experience to what is pleasant.  For example, we can get caught up in our sufferings and create a sense of doom and despair but if we learn to 'seek out' what is pleasant in our experience, a pleasant sound, warm feeling in the hands, a pleasant memory of a loved one's smile and so on, we can 'over ride' the not so pleasant experience and feel more uplifted and positive.
